A DC power system, sometimes called a DC UPS, delivers continuous direct-current power to equipment that runs natively on DC, such as telecommunications, radio, and network infrastructure. Rather than inverting to AC, it supplies regulated DC directly from rectifiers backed by a battery reserve. Removing the inversion stage improves efficiency and reliability, which is why DC power systems are the standard for communications loads and remote-site infrastructure that must stay online through a mains failure.
