This landmark project consisted of supplying Uninterruptible Power Systems to POWINS for use in their heavy industry switchrooms at Rio Tinto’s Koodaideri iron ore mine, based in WA’s Pilbara region.
The switchrooms were designed, manufactured, pre-commissioned and delivered by POWINS, ensuring conformity to the mine’s technical requirements and environmental conditions.
Along with power protection other associated engineered services included a fire system with gaseous suppression and early detection, intelligent FIP and a robust air conditioning system.
Koodaideri is an open-cut project, It is set to be Rio Tinto’s most technologically advanced mine with an investment of $2.6bn. Leveraging equipment such as autonomous trucks, trains and drills and incorporating more than 70 design innovations in scope including digital twins.
