The Challenge
Hope Media is a not-for-profit Christian media organisation based in Seven Hills, Sydney. Its mission is to communicate messages of hope, faith, and inspiration through radio, digital media, podcasts, websites, and other content. The organisation traces its origins back to the Christian Broadcasting Association, founded in 1953, and launched Australia’s first full-time Christian community FM radio station in 1979.
Broadcasting operations depend on continuous, clean power. Radio transmission equipment, studio systems, streaming servers, and digital content platforms are all sensitive to power fluctuations and cannot tolerate unplanned outages. For a broadcaster, downtime is not just an IT problem: dead air means lost audience, and for a not-for-profit running on supporter goodwill, reliability is part of the mission.
Hope Media required a UPS solution that would protect their critical broadcast infrastructure, provide sufficient runtime for a safe shutdown or generator switchover during an extended outage, and support the growing demands of their multi-platform operation.
The Solution
NPS supplied an Eaton 93T 15kVA UPS to provide online double-conversion power protection for Hope Media’s broadcast infrastructure. The Eaton 93T is a transformer-based UPS built for critical applications where power quality and continuity matter.
Key features of the installation:
- Online double-conversion topology: continuous power conditioning and zero transfer time to battery, so connected equipment never sees a break in supply
- Transformer-based design: galvanic isolation and protection against electrical noise on the supply
- Touchscreen interface: real-time monitoring of load, battery status, and system health
- External maintenance bypass: the unit can be serviced without interrupting the protected load
Installation was completed by Oggy’s Electrical, with commissioning completed in August 2026. The system was handed over in online state, actively protecting Hope Media’s broadcast equipment.
The Result
Hope Media’s broadcast chain now runs on conditioned power. The Eaton 93T sits between the mains supply and the transmission and studio equipment, filtering power quality events that would otherwise reach sensitive electronics, and carrying the load instantly if the mains fails. Short outages and voltage disturbances that could previously have interrupted a broadcast are now absorbed by the UPS, and an extended outage gives the team runtime to move to generator power or shut down safely rather than dropping off air without warning.
The installation is a straightforward example of NPS’s work with media and communications clients, where uptime is tied directly to audience reach and, in this case, to the organisation’s mission.
